In 2003 postseason Beckett's received the World Series MVP Award with two great performances within five days. Beckett along with team mate and catcher Iván Rodríguez steered Marlins to win the World Series, beating the New York Yankees in the finals. At the Red Sox Josh Beckett became the first pitcher to hit a home run in 35 year history, scored against Phillies' pitcher Brett Myers during an inter league game on May 20th 2006. Beckett's consistent performance brought him $30 million contract for a period of three years extendable up to 2010 with $10 million club. Josh finished his first season with the Boston Red Sox with an ERA of 5.01. In 204.2 IP, He Struck 158 batters and gave 191 hits, 36 homeruns were scored against him.
In 2007 Beckett became one among six to win first 7 starts in Red Sox's history. In 2007 Josh got an opportunity to play for the American League team in MLB All-Star Game. His good run continued as a team member of American League team.
